As Paul writes to Timothy in the book of 1^st Timothy, he's writing about a church that is adrift. They are drifting theologically. The challenge for us is to make sure that we are rooted in the foundation of God's Word and that we speak the truth to the world that often has been deceived. But if we're going to do that and stay focused,  then we are going to need to speak the truth with a sense of authority and love.
